This 3x zoom, 3 million pixel camera is great for beginners. It contains great portability with a simple mode dial. You can record movies, up to the capacity of the memory card at 320 x 240 pixels. This no-fuss camera has four scene program modes followed by a help function. This camera was given an average overall rating of 3 3/4 stars.

The Olympus D-535 Z is great for the basic digital photographer. Without containing overwhelming features, it is not recommended for advanced photographers. The cost is very convenient and the camera is PictBridge compatible allowing photos to be sent to a printer without uploading them on a PC. This camera is not recommended for landscape photography, yet it has decent photo quality. The average user rating for this camera is 7.8.

This camera is an entry-level point-and-shoot digital camera specialized for first-time users. It has a 3.2 megapixel resolution and 3x optical zoom that is easy to use with good results. It can be used in sunny outdoor settings or indoors with decent lighting. This camera does not contain AF-assist, making it difficult to focus in dim light. The automatic ISO is equivalent to 64-250. The over-all review score was 6.93.

The negative side of the Olympus D-535 Z is that is takes a while to focus which explains my difficulty taking immediate shots. The 38 mm lens makes this camera a poor wide-angle performer. Based on other user reviews, this camera remains a good, basic , first-time user camera. I'm personally not looking for anything more advanced, I am only interested in capturing memories. This camera has done well for me.
