The Online Photographer: The Moon and Venus
There are many reasons to take and to share a photograph. Like words, photographs, can communicate in many ways and for many reasons. When learning photography it is OK to take and share photographs that have personal or idiosyncratic meaning. Your photographs do not have to be artistic or beautiful, or really anything. As long as you are able to fulfill your intention with your photographs it is OK.
Imagine that the only words that you could use were to create poetry. Only using words for poetry would impoverish and inhibit your speaking and writing. Trying to aspire to only beautiful, or meaningful, or technically perfect photographs inhibits the wonderful diversity of photographic intentions. When in doubt, shoot it.
