The Online Photographer: Presenting and Protecting Your Pictures Online
The conclusion of the copyright thread.
To me it is a greater challenge getting my photographs noticed then it is trying to protect my photographs. When I was in Thailand, this May, I was watching a news broadcast. I noticed a familiar photograph of those fantastic Thai painted buses. The photographs looked familiar, but I just let it passed. The news show repeated and I looked again, those photographs were mine! They were illustrating a news segment on new rules for painting buses. It was a strange feeling, but at least I knew somebody had noticed my photographs. If those photographs were used in the United States there would have been a tiny, unnoticeable, credit line, but the anonymity would have been almost identical. It does feel good though to know somebody did notice my photographs.

Copyright is an important issue. I tend to emphasis the desire to share my photographs rather then to emphasis protection, others might differ. This posting, as well as others in this thread, explore copyright in a thoughtful way.
