Candy Cane For Your Portrait... that's cool... and a great way to document existential FAIRBANKS!

Heber Springs, Arkansas was home to a photographer with a studio on the main street. I don’t know his real name but he went by “Michael Disfarmer” which was an admitted pseudonym. When business was slow, in the 1930’s 40’s and 50’s, he’d invite folk in from off the street- strangers, interesting people and such, for a couple of exposures. Coupled with his documentary are photos of what may be paying customers. Regardless, his negatives were “discovered” back in the late 1970’s and been a hit ever since.

I’d love to do something similar here in Fairbanks… though I don’t know if Fairbanks folk would pony up for just a candy cane… beer, potato chips and ice cream would work.
